A Black-Tie Wedding at Knowle Country House, Rochester
Kent Wedding Photographer with a Documentary and Editorial Style
I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful black-tie wedding at Knowle Country House in Rochester, Kent. This timeless venue, surrounded by mature gardens and classic architecture, provided the perfect setting for an elegant celebration. As a documentary wedding photographer, I aim to capture honest moments without directing the day—and this wedding was filled with them.
The couple chose to customise their photography package by adding my new Highlight Video option. This short film captures the essence of the day in a natural, cinematic way, without the need for a full video team. My second photographer and I recorded video clips in between photographing key moments. This allowed us to document the atmosphere in my editorial style without disrupting it. The result was a film that feels as real and meaningful as the photographs—genuine, heartfelt, and elegant.
From the moment I arrived, the mood was calm and full of anticipation. The couple’s love for each other was clear in every interaction, and I focused on capturing this through natural portraits and unscripted moments. My editorial approach means I pay attention to both the emotion and the aesthetic of the day—balancing spontaneous frames with beautifully composed shots.
The reception space was warm and welcoming, with guests enjoying drinks in the gardens before heading inside. Laughter echoed through the marquee, and emotional speeches brought tears and hugs. These are the moments I love to photograph—fleeting expressions, glances, and gestures that tell the true story of the day.

The styling was understated and refined. The flowers were soft and romantic, and each table setting reflected the couple’s personal touch. Details like this matter. They say so much about the couple and their vision, and I make sure they are remembered in both stills and video.
One standout moment was the couple’s first dance. Surrounded by their loved ones, they moved together with ease and affection, lost in the moment. It was intimate, joyful, and full of character—exactly the kind of scene I look for as a Kent wedding photographer who values authenticity.

The highlight video we created moves through the day in a gentle rhythm—from morning preparations to the last dance. It complements the photography perfectly, bringing movement and sound to their visual story.
This wedding at Knowle Country House in Rochester was a wonderful example of how elegant and relaxed a black-tie celebration can be. I’m honoured to have been trusted to document such a special day. My aim is always the same: to provide couples with timeless, authentic memories they can return to again and again.
